Controls
You control your spaceship with the mouse. You fire by clicking the mouse button, but note that your shot goes in exactly the same direction that you are travelling in. Q will abort the game at any time. Command activates your bombs. Caps Lock is pause.
The bad guys...
Like most games, this game has things which you must avoid.
The one at the top is the mine. These are plentiful on all levels and they exist when the level begins. All the others are launched from the enemy villas (see below).
The good guys...
There are three things that you must collect:
Crystals appear at the start of the level, and you cannot exit the level until all have been collected. From time to time, you will see a flying bonus crystal. Grab it! It bounces around for a short period of time, and then disappears completely. Collecting it can give you between 10 and 3000 points. And bombs are always useful to destroy those enemies that you just cannot hit with bullets. (They are activated with command).
Other Scenery...
All the enemies (and the flying bonus crystals) materialise out of the enemy villas. And at the bottom of the screen is the door. It opens once all the crystals have been collected. Contact with the enemy villas is fatal. The sides of the door are also fatal, but the middle of the door is not after it is open. However, it is lethal when it is closed (think of it as an electric fence).
You...
Yes, it's hardly the latest fashion in flying saucers, but...
If you become addicted to this game...
If you really enjoy this game, I seriously recommend you consider purchasing Crystal Crazy from Casady & Greene. It is the sequel to the acclaimed Crystal Quest (which this game is based on). It is without doubt a far better game than Space Debris.
